Thing # 3: Setting up my blog and avatar

I liked setting up the avatar.  That process was easy and the instructions were easy to follow.  When I tried to attach it to my blog, I guess I clicked the wrong link first and when I found Layout, it would not let me add the gadget.  I am not sure exactly what I did to finally get it to allow me to do it but I got to the right page to add it.  I signed back out and started from the beginning so that I now know how to do it the right way the first time.
Now I just have to remember....That's the hard part. :)

  1. Many, many times if I only do something once I forget it. ;-)

  2. Of course, I am looking at this today and I am wondering if I can still remember...

  3. I am having difficulty seeing the use of an avatar. It reminded me of a skit that I saw on Saturday Night Live where Betty White talked about facebook being a "huge waste of time." I know that there has to be some application of it but I am at a loss for what it might be. Any suggestions?

  4. I have done an activity in a workshop where we made an avatar to represent a concept. So everything in it had to relate to the concept we had been discussing over the day. Then each group had to tell the rest what each represented and how it related to the concepts. It was kind of neat. It was an activity that I can remember at least.

Otherwise, I would think making the avatar is just something to do that can show some personality. Not sure of what else to use it for though.

  5. As you explore further you can use your avatar instead of an actual picture on many sites such as diigo, iGoogle, and any other place you would like to protect your actual identity. I didn't delve into Second Life where you NEED an avatar to participate.
